Bagher Fardanesh

Founder, Farco International

Bagher Fardanesh earned his PhD in Higher Education with concentration in marketing
and management, M.A. in Public Administration, and B.S. in Business Administration from the
University of Colorado at Boulder. Having a multidisciplinary academic background, he has
been teaching a broad range of graduate and undergraduate online and onsite courses, including
international business, international management, and strategic management. For seven years,
Bagher Fardanesh was on the faculty of the graduate school of business at the John Hopkins
University, teaching strategic management and international marketing courses. Dr. Fardanesh
has been with the University of Maryland, R. H. Smith School of Business since 2010. He
primarily teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in international marketing. In 2018, he was
recognized as “Most Valuable Professor” by The University of Maryland athletics.
 
He is the founder of Farco International, a management consulting firm in Boulder, Colorado,
and served as the chair of a World Affairs Conference at the University of Colorado. He has
given numerous seminars and conducted management consulting in the United States, Canada,
the Middle East, and Western Europe. In his professional practice, he has served organizations
such as the international operations of General Motors, Noranda Centre de Technologie in
Quebec, TRADOC, and The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Lockheed Martin, and
World Trade Center Institute. He is on the review panel for selected marketing and management
textbooks of the McGraw Hill and Irwin publishing company.
 
Professor Fardanesh is a world traveler who has lived in several countries in the Middle East and
Western Europe, as well as in the United States and Canada. He is multi-lingual with an in-depth
appreciation and understanding of multicultural settings.  He is the author of Global
Communications and Misunderstandings, An Exploratory Study of Interpersonal Relationships,
Management, Business Negotiations and Promotional Marketing in Diverse Cultural
Settings, 2009. He published another book, Cross-Cultural Communication with Success: An
Interpersonal and Organizational Perspective in a Changing World, 2013. He was appointed as
commissioner for the Governor's Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs.
